Roles and what they control
Owner, Admin and Member decide who may administer your organisation. They do not decide who may work a case.
Cogentic has three roles: Owner, Admin and Member. A role controls what you may change in Settings and nothing about casework.
What each role may administer
| Member | Admin | Owner | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Work cases, read everything | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Invite, remove and update members | No | Yes | Yes |
| Manage priorities | No | Yes | Yes |
| Organisation settings | No | Yes | Yes |
| Connect and configure vendors | No | Yes | Yes |
| Issue and revoke API tokens | No | Yes | Yes |
| Manage report templates | No | Yes | Yes |
| Grant the Owner role | No | No | Yes |
| Delete the organisation | No | No | Yes |
Granting Owner is deliberately kept apart from managing the team. An Admin who could grant Owner could grant it to a colleague and be promoted straight back.
Three rules on the Members page
- Only an Owner can change or remove another Owner.
- You cannot change your own role or remove yourself.
- The last Owner cannot be demoted or removed. The controls look available and the save fails, because whether somebody is the last Owner depends on what everybody else is doing at that moment.
Who does what in practice
Cogentic does not enforce who investigates and who signs. Most teams run it the way they already run compliance. The agent does the first pass. An analyst reads the findings and adds what the agent could not reach. An officer decides. The MLRO signs the report.
The case records who did each of those by name, whatever their role.
